Theology

This teaching stream explores Christian Theology.

Because God created all that is, everything coheres in him. Therefore, God's truth – reality – is a unity-in-diversity, a system. Each part integrates with the other, forming a unified whole, thus, the Christian belief-system and what is called 'Systematic Theology'. Get one part wrong and it effects the whole.

Four Main Approaches to Interpreting the Book of Revelation: Studies in Eschatology

February 2, 2019 by David Orton

Four Main Approaches to Interpreting the Book of Revelation: Studies in Eschatology

In considering principles of interpreting the Revelation of Jesus Christ (1:1), there are four major schools of thought: Futurist, Historicist, Idealist, and Preterist. FUTURIST It is conceded by this school that the messages to the seven churches had contemporary relevance to them but also represents successive ages of church history up to “the rapture” of the Church.  From … [Read more...]

The Image of God: A Biblical View of Man

The Image of God: A Biblical View of Man

What is it to be human? There is much at stake in how this vital question is answered. How one answers will differ according to one’s view of reality. And one’s view of reality, with its particular understanding of human nature, directly shapes and governs the values by which one seeks to live. The prevailing evolutionary worldview of secular humanism in the West over the … [Read more...]

What’s Wrong with Wright? ‘Imputation’ to begin with…

Imputation Contended and Defended Romans 5:12-21 is considered the locus classicus for the doctrine of "imputation"; that is, the imputation of Adam's sin, guilt, and penalty to humankind and of Christ's righteousness to the believer. However, the ‘New Perspective on Paul’ significantly contends against “imputation”. For example, as one of the most influential proponents, … [Read more...]

Romans: Justification by Faith Alone Verified from the OT, Part 4c

EXPOSITION: Chapter 4:1-25 The Problem of Gospel Myopia Gospel Clarity With his progressively prosecuted argument from 1:18 to its brilliant climax in the passage 3:21-31, the question must be asked as to why Paul continues with another chapter. Surely it is a case of overkill! Not at all, the apostle now goes for the jugular—the chapter is pure polemics and highly … [Read more...]

Resurrection & The Holy Spirit: A Neglected Emphasis

June 17, 2018 by W. J. Ern Baxter (1914-1993)

Resurrection & The Holy Spirit: A Neglected Emphasis

A Neglected Emphasis, Part 1 Ern begins this series with a brief overview of church history. Establishing the resurrection as the central proclamation of the early church, he highlights how it has been sorely neglected in the centuries following the apostolic era up to the present day. Without minimising the importance of the impeccable life of Jesus or his atoning work on the … [Read more...]

The Message

21st century Western man is now living in the moral debris of the 20th century experiment—the experiment of messianic statism – Marxist, Fascist, and now secular Humanist – with its rejection of God in Christ as the genius of the Western cultural heritage. Spiritually, morally, and financially bankrupt the West has now exhausted its options.

Our message despite the historic failure of humanity, including the church, is one of certainty and hope. God has a purpose for history and for nations—for their governance, prosperity, and peace. God’s plan for the planet is more than adequate for its crisis. Lifemessenger is committed to speaking a prophetically pertinent word to church and culture.
