What is the New Reformation?

September 26, 2016 by David Orton

What is the New Reformation?

The Reformation of the 1500s was a watershed of gargantuan proportions, reshaping the religious and geo-political landscape of Europe and indeed the world to this day, nonetheless, it was only the beginning—reformation is still in process and coming to maturity. The historic Reformation recovered the doctrine of salvation (soteriology) through Justification by Faith, but … [Read more...]

God’s Community

God’s Community

The nature of the Redeemed Community is as ‘ called out ones’, the ecclesia (church). Because the triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – are within themselves a covenantal community, the ground for all human community is found in him. Humankind, made in his image, cannot help but be relational and communal—we are hardwired for it. Accordingly, only authentic community … [Read more...]

Character Studies

Why do we study key Bible characters who walked in God’s ways? For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4 Their failures and successes are examined to discover the keys to an experiential knowledge of God: his character and his ways. It … [Read more...]

Path to Maturity

Path to Maturity

God’s plan is for our maturation. Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity. Hebrews 6:1 Israel was called out of Egypt to go through the Wilderness and into the Land. The perennial problem of God’s people is that they find an oasis, an emphasis of truth or a supernatural experience, and camp there instead of continuing the … [Read more...]

Theonomy

Theonomy

Theonomy (theo – God, nomos – law, meaning God’s law). Historically the Christian movement has been beset by two significant heresies: Marcionism and Antinomianism. Around AD 144 Marcion dualistically represented the God of the Old Testament as a vengeful tyrant, while the superior God of the New Testament was one of love and forgiveness—and never shall the two meet. This … [Read more...]

The Message

21st century Western man is now living in the moral debris of the 20th century experiment—the experiment of messianic statism – Marxist, Fascist, and now secular Humanist – with its rejection of God in Christ as the genius of the Western cultural heritage. Spiritually, morally, and financially bankrupt the West has now exhausted its options.

Our message despite the historic failure of humanity, including the church, is one of certainty and hope. God has a purpose for history and for nations—for their governance, prosperity, and peace. God’s plan for the planet is more than adequate for its crisis. Lifemessenger is committed to speaking a prophetically pertinent word to church and culture.
